The recent Women's March, which took
place in Washington and numerous other cities one day after the
inauguration of President Trump, may go down as the largest protest
in American history. Millions showed up to these events to advocate
for women's issues and to protest against Donald Trump. While very
few would find fault in a women's march in and of itself, upon
inspecting this women's march further, some disturbing information
comes to light.
The Women's March was thankfully quite
peaceful, unlike Inauguration Day when the group Antifa (the
"anti-fascists"), although stymied by the police, were
ironically able to carry out their own mini "Kristallnacht"
(or rather, "Kristalltag"), smashing windows and setting
fires in broad daylight. The Women's March appears to have been
non-violent and there were apparently no arrests. However, problems
start to manifest themselves when we look at the people who set up
and spoke at this protest.
Firstly, we must start with the
organizers of the Women's March. There were four such organizers,
with one being Linda Sarsour. Linda is a headscarf-wearing Muslim
woman who is an advocate for Sharia Law. Yes, one of the four women
who set up this women's rights march is in favor of Sharia Law. She
has never hidden this fact and is quite outspoken about it, with
tweets such as, "10 weeks of PAID maternity leave in
Saudi Arabia. Yes PAID. And ur worrying about women driving. Puts us
to shame." and "You’ll know when you’re
living under Sharia Law if suddenly all your loans & credit cards
become interest free. Sound nice, doesn’t it?"
Besides support for Sharia, Linda Sarsour believes in conspiracy
theories, as can be seen in her tweet, "Underwear
bomber was the CIA all along. Why did I already know that?! Shame on
us - scaring the American people. "
This must have been
known by the other three organizers of the Women's March, as they
worked closely together to set it up. However, Linda's beliefs do
not appear to have worked against her. This view is mirrored by the
ubiquitous "We The People Are Greater Than Fear" poster by
Shepard Fairey, the designer of the Obama "Hope" poster,
which depicts a Muslim woman wearing an American flag as a headscarf
and which was carried by a significant number of attendees to the
protest.
One might expect
that women's rights advocates would reject the headscarf as a symbol
of oppression. After all, in many places in Muslim-majority
countries, women who do not cover themselves are assaulted and
sometimes even arrested or killed. One glaring example is the 2002
Mecca Girl's School Fire that claimed the lives of 15 girls when they
were prevented from leaving the burning school because they were not
dressed "appropriately". It seems clear that Islamic
societies, which are some of the most misogynistic in the world, have
been given a free pass, while the West has been targeted. The
oft-cited reason is because they don't want to "punch down",
but in actuality, there are numerous victims who are not being
"helped up". I can only imagine that it must be
infuriating for a women's rights advocate in Saudi Arabia when
feminists in the West focus on "manspreading" instead of on
the plight of women like her.
Unfortunately,
this is nowhere near the extent of the scandal seen at the Women's
March. When looking at the official site of the march, the name
"Donna Hylton" comes up. In addition, a simple internet
search yields videos of her showing her affiliation to the march.
When one looks into the details of Donna Hylton's life, one cannot
help but be shocked. Due to the work of citizen journalists as well
as The American Spectator, people can learn about what kind of person
was invited to speak in an official capacity for the movement. Donna
Hylton "spent time in prison for participating in the
kidnapping, rape, murder, and ransoming of a gay man"
This torture included squeezing
the victim’s testicles with a pair of pliers, shoving a
three-foot-long metal bar up his rectum, burning him, beating him,
and other horrific abuses over the course of 15-20 days.
Finally, they murdered him because due to his injuries, “He
[the victim] was going to die anyway, so...” This person made
it onto the official list of speakers to talk about "criminal
justice reform" and the fact that women in prison need more
tampons.
I am sure that many people who attended
the Women's March had no idea about any of this, but if they are
reading this article, they do now. Unfortunately, some unsavory
characters set up and ran this protest in a deeply unethical way and
tricked many women and men with good hearts who thought they were
turning up for something positive. When one looks for those
supporting sexism, racism, Sharia Law, and violent thugs, one might
easily skip over the Women's March. However, these things are
visible in spades within the Women's March if one dares to "remove
the veil" and take a close look. Sadly, "removing the
veil" doesn't seem like a priority for many of today's
feminists.
