The North Sentinelese Need Even More Border Security

I recently read the following article:

Thank goodness this man is dead!  I always fear hearing about North Sentinel Island.  I do not want this island to be on any map.  It is a global treasure.  Its tribe is the LEAST-CONTACTED TRIBE IN THE WORLD.  It is home to people who have not EVER had contact with any outsiders.  We do not know their language.  We know nothing about their culture, aside from their desire for border security.  When the Indian Ocean Tsunami occurred, a helicopter was sent to the island, and got pelted with arrows.  These are pretty much the last people on the Earth living in the stone age.  They do not need "modernity".  And they certainly don't need "Iron Age" Jesus.  The North Sentinelese are independent.  They have never recognized any nation's authority over them.  In one way, they have no idea what a nation is.  In another way, they know more about what a nation is than anyone else in the world.

There are a scattering of other tribes around the world that live relatively "traditionally", but it always pains me when I see them roaming the forest with a spear and loincloth or penis-sheath, but wearing some "Coca-Cola" T-shirt as well.  Not so with these pure people.

But the Indian government did a stupid thing and stopped its protection of the island early this year.  That decision could have destroyed this final hold-out.  These people are not immune to outside-world diseases.  Thus, as has been shown time and time again over history, including with people just on neighboring islands, if you cough on them, they drop dead.  That's not much of a stretch.  So visitors, even not knowing that they have any contagions, are guilty of murder if they so much as make contact with these people.  And there may be fewer than 100 people on the island as it is.

The person who recently entered the island was a missionary for Christ (aww!) who met his maker.  Great!  He can be with his god now!  There is one constant reason why the North Sentinelese are not currently extinct, or drunken Christian shells of their former selves, and that is because they have the best border security in the world.  It's true.  That is the only reason why they were not overrun and destroyed centuries ago, and why they still exist as a proud culture.  I can only hope that their border security remains a constant for the next 60,000 years, but I fear that due to the whims of governments and modern societies (that will fluctuate wildly over the next 60 years, never mind 60,000 years), these people will not be protected from the outside.  The only people they can truly rely on are themselves, and THEY MUST NOT BUDGE AN INCH!

Whenever a Muslim brings up the Crusades, I have to laugh to myself.  Christians have done horrible things, including in later crusades against Constantinople and the Cathars in particular.  However, get this.  The Islamic State militants said, "Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for" right before butchering Egyptian Christians. Fighting Klanophobia I'm always hurt when I see bigots offend groups of people.  All too often, people paint a group, "the other" with a broad brush and stereotype them as being evil, even though the crimes that are associated with them are only committed by a tiny minority fringe element within the larger group.
